Making my own ‘Prayer Jar’
Better than paying $15 for an empty jar I bought a mason jar for about $3 in Marshall’s and the index cards at the Dollar Tree! I’m adding prayers and biblical quotes that move me personally. Hope to fill by the end of the year and gift to someone! 😊
I recently discovered the idea of a prayer jar, and let me tell you, it's been such a blessing! It's more than just a pretty jar; it's a tangible way to hold onto hope, gratitude, and intentions. If you're wondering what a prayer jar is, it's essentially a beautiful container where you collect written prayers, blessings, gratitude notes, or inspiring quotes. It's a wonderful way to keep your intentions close and revisit them, seeing how prayers are answered over time. Like many of you, I saw those expensive pre-made versions online, but I knew I could make my own for so much less! All you really need is a clear glass mason jar – mine has this lovely embossed text, and I found a perfect one with a gold lid. Then, some colorful index cards – I love using yellow, pink, and light blue like the ones you see in my jar – and a pen. That's pretty much it! It's amazing how a few simple items can create something so meaningful. Easy Steps to Create Your Own Meaningful Prayer Jar: Find Your Perfect Jar: A mason jar works wonderfully, but any pretty glass jar will do. Look for one that inspires you! Gather Your Notes: I personally love using different colored index cards. For example, yellow for prayers for others, pink for personal gratitude, and light blue for biblical quotes that move me. The folded index cards add a lovely texture inside the jar. Write Your Intentions: Take time to write down your prayers, blessings, or quotes. Be specific and heartfelt. The beauty of this is that the jar serves as a visual reminder of your faith and hopes. Fold & Fill: Fold your notes and place them inside your jar. Watch as it slowly fills up with your hopes and blessings. Revisit & Reflect: Periodically, perhaps at the end of the year, or whenever you need encouragement, open your jar and read through its contents. It’s a powerful experience to see all the prayers, gratitude, and inspiration you’ve collected. There are so many wonderful ideas to fill your prayer jar! You could create a gratitude jar by writing down daily blessings. Or perhaps a blessings jar to track all the answered prayers. An intention jar for your future hopes and goals is also a great idea. And, of course, like me, you can fill it with uplifting biblical quotes or positive affirmations. The prayer jar design doesn't have to be complicated; the simple act of filling it is what truly counts. This is such a fantastic activity for little ones too! Making a kids prayer jar craft teaches them gratitude and reflection in a fun, hands-on way. Let them decorate the jar, choose their own colorful folded index cards, and write down things they're thankful for or people they want to pray for. It's truly heartwarming to see them engage with this concept. A prayer jar for kids becomes a special treasure they can look back on. And finally, imagine receiving a jar filled with personalized prayers or blessings from someone you love! A prayer jar gift is such a unique and thoughtful present. You can fill it yourself with prayers specifically for the recipient, or leave it mostly empty with a note explaining the concept, letting them fill it with their own hopes and gratitude. It's a gift that keeps on giving, fostering faith and reflection. Whether you're making one for yourself, with your kids, or as a gift, a prayer jar is a beautiful reminder of faith, hope, and all the good in our lives. It's a simple craft with profound meaning!

That’s what I’m making for my grandkids!! Great ideas!! Mine is similar! ❤️
