I trust Him

Have you ever felt completely overwhelmed, like life was throwing everything it had at you? I know I have. There are moments when my heart cries out, 'God, I don't understand!' Yet, in those very moments, I find myself drawn back to the profound truth in Psalm 13:5-6. It’s more than just a verse; it’s a lifeline for my soul: 'I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me. I will sing to the Lord because he is good to me.' This Psalm is a beautiful journey from lament to unwavering faith. Initially, the psalmist expresses deep distress, feeling forgotten and asking, 'How long, Lord?' But then, there's a powerful pivot. It's a reminder that even when we're in the depths of despair, God's character remains constant. His love is truly *unfailing*. It doesn't depend on our circumstances or our understanding; it just *is*. For me, 'trusting the process' spiritually means leaning into this unfailing love, especially when the path ahead is unclear. It’s about letting go of the need to control or comprehend every single step. Instead, I choose to believe that God is working all things for my good, even when it doesn't feel good in the moment. It's not passive acceptance, but active faith – choosing to fix my eyes on His promise of rescue. The idea of being 'rescued' isn't always about a dramatic, instantaneous deliverance from all problems. Sometimes, it's the quiet strength He gives to endure, the peace that surpasses understanding in the midst of chaos, or a new perspective that shifts my despair into hope. He rescues us from our own fears, doubts, and often, from ourselves. And then, the call to 'rejoice' and 'sing to the Lord because he is good to me.' This isn't about ignoring pain; it's about acknowledging God's inherent goodness despite the pain. It’s about finding gratitude even in the smallest blessings, knowing that His goodness is the foundation of our existence. When I choose to sing praises, even with a heavy heart, it's an act of defiance against discouragement and an affirmation of faith.
