... Read moreI remember when I first started Bible journaling, I felt a bit overwhelmed! There are so many beautiful examples out there, but I quickly learned it's about connecting with God in your own unique way. If you're looking to dive into this wonderful practice, here's how I got started and some of my favorite tips to make your Bible study an inspiring artistic journey. First things first, you don't need a lot of fancy supplies to begin. A Bible you're comfortable writing in, some colorful markers (like the ones I love using!), and maybe a few pens are a great start. I also find those colorful Bible tabs incredibly helpful for quickly finding my favorite passages or themes I'm focusing on. Don't be afraid to use what you have! One of my go-to methods is verse-focused journaling. I love picking a verse that speaks to my heart, like Psalm 86:15, which reminds me, 'BUT YOU O LORD, ARE A GOD OF COMPASSION AND MERCY SLOW TO GET ANGRY AND FILLED WITH UNFAILING LOVE AND FAITHFULNESS.' Writing it out beautifully in decorative script, maybe even adding some vibrant floral doodles around it, helps it sink deeper into my soul. Another verse that often brings me comfort is Psalm 94:22: 'WHEN the Cares of my heart are many your CONSOLATIONS cheer my soul.' Decorating this with little smiley faces or rainbows just adds a touch of joy to moments of reflection. Then there's thematic journaling. Sometimes I'll choose a specific theme, like 'God's promises' or 'Jesus' authority,' and journal through scriptures related to it. For example, when I read about the fig tree and Jesus' authority, I might highlight those verses and then write down my reflections or a prayer. Another powerful theme for me has been 'BE living proof OF JESUS.' I’ll brainstorm ways I can embody that in my daily life and illustrate those thoughts around the phrase. It’s a wonderful way to turn scripture into actionable faith. Don't shy away from creative doodling and art. Even if you think you're not an artist, simple plant illustrations, stars, or abstract patterns can really enhance your page. It’s not about perfection, but about engaging your senses and creativity in worship. I often use different colored pens to highlight key phrases or create borders, making the page truly personal. And finally, remember to make it your own! There's no right or wrong way to Bible journal. It's a space for personal reflection, prayer, and creative expression as you spend time in God's Word. It's a beautiful journey that helps you connect with scripture on a deeper level and truly feel 'BLESSED' by His presence. So grab your Bible and some markers, and start exploring how you can bring your faith to life on its pages!
