... Read moreHey everyone! 👋 I've been doing a deep dive into one of my favorite Bible verses lately, Hebrews 11:1, and it's truly been transformative. You know that feeling when you're hoping for something so deeply, but you just can't see how it'll happen? This verse, 'ES PUES, LA FE LA CERTEZA DE LO QUE SE ESPERA, LA CONVICCIÓN DE LO QUE NO SE VE' (or in English, 'Now faith is the certainty of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen'), has really opened my eyes.
For many of us, the idea of faith can feel a bit abstract. But when we break down Hebrews 11:1, it becomes so much clearer. What exactly does it mean for faith to be the certainty of what we hope for? It's not just wishful thinking! It’s an unwavering assurance, a deep inner knowing that what God has promised will come to pass, even when there’s no physical proof yet. Think of it like this: if you buy a ticket for a concert, you have the certainty that you will attend, even though you haven't walked into the venue yet. Your ticket is the 'substance' or 'assurance' of your future experience. In our spiritual walk, faith is that absolute assurance that God's word is true and His plans will unfold.
Then there's the second part: 'the conviction of things not seen.' This is equally powerful. What is conviction, really? It’s a firm belief, a strong persuasion that something is true, regardless of sensible or empirical evidence. It’s seeing beyond the immediate circumstances. We can’t physically see God, or heaven, or many of the spiritual realities, yet through faith, we are deeply convinced of their existence and truth. It's like having inner proof, a spiritual understanding that transcends our five senses. For me, this means trusting in God's presence even when I feel alone, or believing in His provision when my resources seem scarce.
This verse isn't just a theological statement; it's a practical guide for daily living. How do we cultivate this kind of faith, this certainty and conviction? It starts with spending time in His word, allowing those promises to sink deep into our hearts. It grows as we remember past blessings and see how God has been faithful before. Each step of obedience, each prayer answered (or even unanswered in ways we expect but answered in God's perfect timing), builds our spiritual muscle of faith.
So, if you're struggling to believe for something you're hoping for, or if you feel like you need a stronger conviction in your spiritual journey, I encourage you to meditate on Hebrews 11:1. Let its words resonate within you. It’s a reminder that true faith isn't blind; it's seeing with spiritual eyes, holding onto God's promises with unwavering certainty, and living with the profound conviction that He is good and His word is true, even for the things not yet seen. What does this verse mean to you?
