... Read moreOkay, so you loved the mini dress and knee-high boots look, right? It's one of my absolute favorites, especially for fall! Beyond the plaid flannel and white ribbed mini dress combo I showed, I often pair my tan knee-high boots with a cozy sweater dress. The trick for us petites (I'm 4'11"!) is to make sure the dress length hits at just the right spot—not too long, not too short, usually a few inches above the knee, to elongate the leg when paired with those taller boots. Try a simple black or olive green sweater dress for a chic, effortless vibe. You can add a belt to cinch the waist and define your silhouette, which is super helpful for creating shape. For a dressier look, a satin slip dress with knee-high boots and a longline cardigan is surprisingly stylish and comfy! Let's talk about leggings next, since they're such a fall staple! While I didn't feature them directly in my initial outfits, knee-high boots with leggings are a match made in heaven. My go-to is usually a pair of dark, thick leggings (almost like ponte pants) paired with a long tunic sweater or an oversized button-down shirt. This creates a really sleek, comfortable profile. If you have tan knee-high boots, they pop beautifully against black leggings. For a more casual vibe, throw on a denim jacket over your tunic. It's perfect for running errands but still looking put-together. Don't forget cozy socks peeking out slightly if your boots allow! You saw how I styled my light wash jeans with tan ankle booties—a classic! But what about other jean styles? If you're wondering what shoes to wear with skinny jeans, ankle booties are always a winner. But don't be afraid to try a straight-leg or 'mom' jean with your booties. For those, I usually do a small cuff or choose a pair that's cropped just above the bootie shaft. This avoids any awkward bunching. To dress up jeans, especially my ripped light wash jeans, I often reach for a pointed-toe ankle bootie in a neutral like tan or a deep brown—it instantly elevates the look. For a slightly different vibe than the brown and white striped sweater, try a black turtleneck with your light wash jeans and light-colored ankle booties for a sleek contrast. And if you're venturing into wider-leg jeans, Chelsea boots can work well underneath, just make sure the hem covers the top of the boot for a seamless look. Many of you asked about styling tan ankle boots or light-colored boots! They're so versatile. I find my tan ankle booties and tan knee-high boots pair beautifully with almost any fall color palette—from rich browns and olive greens to classic denim and even softer whites like that white puff-sleeve top. They act as a neutral that adds warmth. For a cohesive look, try matching your purse or belt to your boot color. If you're rocking a white ribbed dress, light-colored or tan boots can keep the outfit feeling fresh and bright for early fall, before you dive into darker shades. And don't forget the power of textures—a knit sweater or a flannel shirt can really complement the leather or suede of your boots! These are just a few more ways I've found to make my booties and knee-high boots work hard in my wardrobe. Experiment with layers and accessories—a cute scarf or a crossbody purse can totally transform an outfit. Happy styling, Lemon8 fam!
