first day at the con yesterday. had fun. spent way too much munny.
After an amazing first day at Ichibancon 2025, I'm still buzzing with excitement! If you're planning to attend or just curious about what this fantastic anime convention in Concord, NC, has to offer from January 9th-12th, let me give you a peek into the experience. My first day was a whirlwind of sights and sounds. The energy from fellow fans is just infectious! I started by exploring the Dealer's Room, which, let's be honest, is where a lot of that 'munny' disappears! From exclusive merchandise and figures to rare manga and artisan crafts, it's a treasure trove for any anime enthusiast. It's so easy to get carried away, so a little tip from my personal experience: set a budget before you go in, or you might end up like me, wondering where all your cash went! But honestly, finding that perfect piece of merch or a limited-edition collectible is half the fun. The Artist's Alley was another highlight. It's incredible to see the talent in our community, with artists selling prints, commissions, and unique handmade goods. Supporting independent artists directly is always a plus, and I love bringing home something truly unique. I even spotted some amazing fan art featuring characters from shows I adore. Cosplay spotting is, of course, a major part of the con experience. The creativity and dedication people put into their costumes are just astounding. I saw everything from elaborate mecha suits to perfectly styled character outfits. Don't be shy to ask for a photo – most cosplayers love to share their work! Though I didn't get to attend many panels on the first day, I heard whispers about some great discussions and Q&A sessions. Keep an eye on the schedule; they often have insightful talks and workshops. One of the cool things about Ichibancon is the chance to meet voice actors and creators. This year, I heard that Debi Derryberry, known for so many iconic roles, will be there! Imagine getting an autograph or even just saying hello. It adds another layer of magic to the event. For anyone heading to Ichibancon 2025 later in the weekend, here are a few survival tips I picked up: Wear comfortable shoes: You'll be doing a lot of walking! Stay hydrated: Grab water whenever you can, especially with all the excitement. Plan your day: Look at the schedule beforehand to prioritize panels, photo ops, or shopping areas you don't want to miss. Cash is king (sometimes): While many vendors accept cards, having some cash on hand for smaller purchases or artist alley buys can be super helpful and sometimes quicker. Pace yourself: It's a marathon, not a sprint! Enjoy every moment. Despite spending a bit much, the joy of being surrounded by fellow fans, discovering new art, and just soaking in the vibrant atmosphere of Ichibancon is truly priceless. I'm already looking forward to what the rest of the convention holds and can't wait to share more of my adventures from Ichibancon 2025!
