Watching Svengoolie's feature on "Creature From The Black Lagoon" this week really sparked my imagination and inspired this artwork! As a fellow #svenpal, I always look forward to his classic horror picks, and this one truly has a special place in my heart. The Creature isn't just an iconic monster; its design is pure cinematic gold, making it a perfect subject for fan art. When I decided to create this piece, I knew I wanted to put my own spin on it. That's why I opted for a distinct cartoon-style drawing. It allowed me to exaggerate some of the Creature's most striking features and bring a fresh, playful energy to a classic horror figure. I spent a lot of time on the details, wanting to make sure that even in a cartoon, the essence of the character shone through. Those large yellow eyes, for instance, are so recognizable, and I felt it was crucial to get their intensity just right. I also added distinct red lips to give him a bit more personality. Capturing the scaly texture was another fun challenge. I tried to convey that unique, aquatic skin through simplified lines and shading, and then, for a pop of color, I decided on a vibrant purple outline. I think it really makes the green creature stand out against the light background! And depicting him clenching his fists gives a sense of his raw power, even in this stylized form. It's a nod to his strength and presence in the film.
