Making Air Fryer Churro Bites at home is a delightful way to enjoy a classic snack with less oil and fuss. From my experience, these churro bites turn out best when following the step of not boiling the milk and butter mixture, as overheating can alter the texture. The key is to stir in the flour thoroughly while still on medium-high heat to create a smooth dough. Cooling the mixture before adding eggs is essential; it prevents the eggs from cooking prematurely and helps form the soft dough. I found using a piping bag or a Ziploc bag with a small cut at the corner makes it easy to shape uniform cued bites, which cook evenly in the air fryer. Applying an egg wash on top before air frying creates a gentle glaze that helps the cinnamon sugar stick well, giving each bite a sweet, spiced coating. While these churro bites aren’t crispy, their tender, chewy texture is very comforting and pairs perfectly with a dip like chocolate sauce or caramel. Cooking at 180°F for about 23 minutes is crucial to ensure the bites cook through but stay soft. I’ve experimented with slightly higher temperatures, but it risks drying them out or burning the sugar coating. Instead, patience with the lower temperature yields a gentle cook that’s worth the wait. Finally, rolling the hot churro bites in a cinnamon and sugar mix right after cooking helps the sugar stick nicely, adding that classic churro flavor. This recipe is a great example of a happy kitchen accident resulting in an easy-to-make dessert that’s perfect for casual treats, family snacks, or when you want a quick sweet fix without heating up the entire oven.
