Percius rain will enter the peak period on the night between August 12 and 13, 2025.
The optimal period is after midnight until dawn, especially hours before dawn.
The moon has just passed its full range (waning gibbous moon) and will reach a high brightness of around 80-84%, which could make it less visible to meteors - with the exception of only exceptionally bright meteors.
Number of meteors expected to be seen
• In ideal dark skies, percius showers may provide 50-100 stars per hour.
• But because of the strong moonlight this year, the rate of fall vision may drop to about 25% of normal, or about 15-25 stars per hour.
Watch tips
• Bypass moonlit spots directly: Find a tree, building, or car building to cover the moon in the east.
• Should lie down or use a reclining chair to achieve widest view of the sky, reducing neck pain
• It takes at least 30 minutes for the eyes to start adjusting in place (dark adaptation) and turn off the mobile light or use red light mode so as not to lose sight adjustment.
• Look to the northeast (NE), which is the direction of the rudant (the origin of the meteor in this group, the Perseus constylation).
