The gem i see in me
There is a profound difference between having beauty and owning it. To own your own beauty is to recognize that you are a living, breathing gem. You’re something formed through time, pressure, and survival. It is a commitment to seeing yourself clearly, even when the world is loud or the day is heavy.
I AM BEAUTIFUL. I SEE ME AS A GEM,EVEN ON THE DAYS I DON’T FEEL MY BEST.
On the days when the light feels a little dim, or the polish feels worn, i remind myself; THE VALUE OF A GEM IS IN ITS ESSENCE, NOT JUST ITS SHINE. A precious stone doesn’t lose its worth because it’s tucked away in the dark; it remains rare,it remains strong, and it remains mine to protect.
To treat the beauty i hold with respect means:
🩷Honoring the essence: My beauty isn’t a performance for others; it’s a sacred space i carry within. I am a masterpiece in every stage of my existence in the rest,in the struggle, and in the brilliance.
🩷The power of the vault: I am the gatekeeper of my own light. I don’t let just anyone handle my energy or critique my spirit. I honor myself by choosing who gets to see the “real” me.
🩷Self reverence over self improvement: I am done “fixing” myself to fit a mold. I choose reverence, looking at my reflection and saying, “I am enough, i am whole, and i am precious”.
🩷Polish from within: True radiance comes from the quiet confidence of a woman who knows her worth isn’t up for debate.
🩷Reminder: I am a gem that has survived the pressure. I don’t need a setting or a spotlight to be valuable. I am precious because i simply exist. I own my light, i respect my journey, and i never apologize for the space i take up.
Understanding and embracing the concept of seeing yourself as a "living, breathing gem" can profoundly affect the way we navigate daily life and challenges. Through my experience, recognizing that my worth and beauty stem not just from outward appearances but from a resilience forged by time and pressure has been empowering. I've learned that our true value isn't dependent on external validation or constant perfection — rather, it emerges from accepting ourselves fully, including our struggles and imperfections. One practice that has helped me own my beauty is setting clear boundaries about who I allow into my emotional space. Just like the article mentions being the "gatekeeper" of your own light, choosing to surround yourself with supportive and understanding people can protect your energy and affirm your unique worth. This selective vulnerability nurtures genuine connections and strengthens internal confidence. Additionally, shifting from a mindset of "fixing" myself to one of reverence was a difficult but transformative step. Saying affirmations such as "I am enough, whole, and precious" daily helped rewire negative self-talk. This intentional self-kindness became a protective polish, reminding me that my radiance comes from confidence in my authenticity rather than external approval. I also found it valuable to reflect on the metaphor that "the value of a gem is in its essence, not just its shine." Even on tough days when my energy feels dim, trusting in the strength I've cultivated reminds me that my core worth remains intact. This perspective encourages patience and gentleness with oneself during life’s inevitable ebb and flow. Overall, viewing ourselves as rare gems shaped by survival and growth is a powerful framework for self-love. It invites us to celebrate every stage of our journey and stand unapologetically in our light, knowing that our presence alone is a precious gift.
