japanese dessert cafe with matcha kakigori ๐Ÿต

๐Ÿ’ญ city square mall has recently undergone some reno and they have a few new f&b spots! fun fact: discovered this place and wrote about it back when i was still at my editorial job๐Ÿ˜ณ

the fam stopped by after dinner to get our fix of desserts teehee and we were lowkey impressed by the large menu (and we all know this is a huge compliment from our asian parents HAHAH) ๐Ÿคญย they have kakigori, souffle pancakes, thick toasts, gelato, etc and the ingredient makeup of every item sounds v unique and interesting !!!

matcha kakigori ($13.90)

๐Ÿต not a kakigori expert (canโ€™t say i know the diff between this, bingsu and ice kachangโ€ฆ shaved ice is shaved ice to me ๐Ÿ˜“) but we really liked this! portion is decent for the price, we shared between 3 pax. ice was really soft and the matcha had a slight bitterness to it instead of being cloyingly sweet ๐Ÿ˜›ย the thick mascarpone cream on top was ๐Ÿซจ YUMZ and thereโ€™s also a hidden orange jam in the middle and an osmanthus honey(?) drizzle! all the flavours work so well together ~

seems to be quite a chill spot with lots of tables and power plugs ๐Ÿค—ย  iโ€™ll defo be back to try their other desserts and wide selection of drinks, maybe even stop by for a study session in the future

The cafรฉ offers a thoughtfully curated menu featuring souffle pancakes, thick toasts, and gelato, each crafted with interesting and unique ingredients that set them apart from typical dessert cafรฉs. One delightful aspect is the balance of flavors in their shaved ice (kakigori). Unlike overly sweet alternatives, the matcha kakigori here showcases a pleasant bittersweet profile thanks to the high-quality matcha and mascarpone cream. The surprise orange jam inside adds a burst of fruity freshness that complements the drink's floral osmanthus honey drizzle. This mix of textures and tastes not only satisfies a sweet craving but also offers a sophisticated dessert experience. The ambiance is perfect for casual visits or study sessions with spacious seating and convenient power plugs. Whether youโ€™re a matcha enthusiast or someone looking to try a Japanese-inspired dessert cafรฉ with aesthetic appeal, this place is worth a visit. Iโ€™m personally excited to return and try more from their diverse dessert and drink selection!
