All this from a shopaholic... ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶

Finally created a no buy list for the year. I'm sure I will think of other things to add lol! This will be great to look back on anytime I'm out shopping.♡ One of my biggest goals this year is to pay off my car so hopefully this list will help keep me on track! ;-p

For 2026, I prioritized not buying certain items I already have plenty of, like dog collars, treats, and even household items like cups and mugs, which helped cut down on clutter and unnecessary spending. One important aspect I’ve recognized is the value of setting clear financial goals, such as paying off my car this year. Whenever I feel tempted to make an unplanned purchase, I remind myself of the bigger picture and how each small decision affects my progress. For example, instead of buying new clothes or shoes, I am committed to wearing what I currently own and only replacing shoes if I donate two pairs first. I also realized that reducing dining out was a simple yet effective way to save money. Opting for homemade meals and packing lunch bags has been beneficial both for my wallet and health. Focusing on using up physical books I own and utilizing my Kindle for new reading has minimized the urge to buy more books impulsively. By tracking my no buy list regularly and revisiting it before shopping trips, I maintain accountability and avoid slipping back into old habits. This no buy list is more than just a shopping restriction; it’s a mindful practice that encourages me to appreciate what I have and focus my resources on paying off debt and achieving financial freedom. If you’re a fellow shopaholic or just looking to improve your spending habits, I highly recommend making a personalized no buy list. It’s a practical tool to stay disciplined while still enjoying life, and it brings a gratifying sense of accomplishment as each goal is met.
