ð The Official Cambridge Guide to IELTS Review
After reading and doing the exercises in this book for a while, I felt that I understood why many people would recommend it for the preparation of the IELTS exam.
The favorite thing is that he doesn't just teach you how to do the exam, but how to understand why you answer it. Each par technique is described quite thoroughly, especially Reading and Listening, where the key should be captured, not read and finish.
Writing and Speaking is good because there are many levels of answer examples to show how different each Band score is. When reading, you know what to develop. Don't guess.
The other thing I like is that the exercises are easy to do. People whose basics are uncertain can follow, do not feel thrown into the real exam in the first place, and at the end of the book there are Practice Tests to try to do the real time, and know where they are weak.
But there is something to be honest about: this book does not fit people in which English starts from scratch, because most of the descriptions are in English. If the basics are very small, it may be used with a Thai summary book or a tutorial. It will be easier to understand.
Overall, if anyone is preparing for the IELTS exam, whether Academic or General Training, we think that this book is worth it because of both the techniques, understanding and training that are quite close to the real thing. The whole book will see its development clearly.
