Day 1 of youngho adulting ( don’t text him )

My bf broke up w/ me last yr in May right before my lil sisters bday, Mother’s Day and the last yr my gma would be w/ me. Ofc I didn’t know abt the last part til it happened at the end of last yr. Ofc we got back tg, then he tried to break up me again. And well that time of breaking up again didnt happen. Yeah everything had took a shift in my life w/ school, work and family. I tried every time, every way and everything. But still at the end wasn’t enough. Yes, we both had our own shit going on but I truly believe u can still work it out w/ that person no matter what. But hey some ppl are different and don’t think that way and don’t wanna see it that way. He broke up w/ me a week after my bday, then when Valentine’s Day came up… I still wanted to be w/ him, see him, spend time w/ him and say I want to work it out. All of it. Yes I know “ get up girl “ , “ pick up ur pimp stick and keep pimpin “. When u tell u I wanted it to be him so bad, I fell for the potential like I always have or wanted in that person. It hurts to know he’ll never see what I saw in him. Or deem him to be but hey a girl js wanted a man for her and only for her. I still do obviously bc I’m here writing this and thinking about him. Aside from heartbreak. I did spend the Valentine’s Day w/ him , went to him and everything. Let me tell you I never felt more alone than I did this year. Idk if it’s bc I’m older and I saw it as what it was and what it wasn’t. It js hurts but all in all I love that man. He says the same but he didn’t love me the way I loved him. And that’s something I can’t take back but I wouldn’t take it back bc who knows if he needed that love or I hope he took something from it. I do have hope that he’ll come back to me but time will tell. For now though I’d like to say soooo. Aside from heartbreak, I finally figured out what I would see myself doing for a career. Yes, it’s a start but I don’t have “time” like everyone is talking about. I know I am young ( 24 , no unc shit here bc youngho ) (18 yrs old , u are still a baby trust me) but in a career sense I feel like I’m not going at the speed I need to be at. But I’m trying to not be so hard on myself. I have what I want in my head I’m just getting there. I just need to figure out the how and just do it. Ik in life now that u will never be ready for anything so u js have to do it. I do want to start taking accountability for my own actions that I do for myself. For instance, going to the gym, eating healthier, drinking more water , sleeping more , saving money, learning how to do my own maintenance as a woman and learning new skills and hobbies. And I feel that these are gonna be my little diary entries, especially when I feel like texting or calling him. Thats all I want to do most of the time. I do have friends but I feel like my friends aren’t really my friends like that anymore. Doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate that friendships u had but it’s js not the same anymore. And my boyfriend was my bestfriend, I could tell him anything w/out being judged or interrupted. He didn’t pay attention sometimes which made me super upset but hey maybe now I’m seeing the otherside of the relationship I tried saving so hard. Well that’s it for now. If I get the urge I’ll be back.

... Read moreGoing through a breakup can be one of the toughest experiences, especially when it coincides with important family milestones and personal growth moments. From my own experience, I found that acknowledging your feelings without rushing the healing process is crucial. It’s normal to feel alone even when you’re surrounded by people—sometimes especially then. What helped me was setting small, consistent goals, like going to the gym regularly, eating healthier, and saving money. These actions might seem simple, but they build your confidence and sense of control in a time that feels unpredictable. I also realized the importance of accountability and self-discipline. Learning to take responsibility for one’s own choices, like maintaining personal hygiene or picking up new hobbies, can transform your mindset. It’s not just about productivity but about reclaiming your identity outside of the relationship that ended. I found journaling to be a powerful tool in this process—writing down thoughts, challenges, and progress helped me stay connected with myself and track my growth. Friendships may change during such periods, and it’s okay to feel that old bonds are shifting. Sometimes we outgrow or drift from people, but this can also open space to build new, more supportive relationships. And while it’s tempting to reach out or text your ex, I discovered that channeling that urge into focusing on myself rather than seeking validation helped me gain clarity. Love is complex, especially when feelings aren’t reciprocated in the way you hope, but giving yourself grace and patience is key. Lastly, about career stress—many younger adults feel pressure to have everything figured out. It’s important to remember that career paths aren’t always linear. What matters is identifying what you want and steadily working towards it, even if the pace feels slow. Life won’t always wait for you to be fully ready; sometimes you have to take the leap and learn along the way. Adulting doesn’t mean having all the answers but learning how to adapt, persevere, and grow through every chapter.
