テーブルのお手入れは、傷や汚れが気になった時に放置してしまいがちですが、年末の大掃除にまとめてしっかりメンテナンスするのがおすすめです。特にウォールナットのような天然木のテーブルは、傷や色ムラが目立ちやすいので、紙やすりなどで表面を軽く削って木目に沿って整えた後、オイルを塗り込むと深みのある光沢が戻ります。 私の場合は、まず薄めた中性洗剤でテーブル全体を優しく拭き取り、汚れや油分を落とします。完全に乾いたのを確認してから、細かい傷が気になる部分を木目に沿って削り、その後布巾で削 りカスを丁寧に拭き取ります。オイルは専用のウッドオイルを使い、布に少量ずつ取りながら全体に薄く伸ばしていくとムラなく塗れます。余分なオイルは乾く前に拭き取るのがポイントです。 最近はセラミックテーブルのひび割れ補修に関心が高まっていますが、天然木のテーブルは傷や汚れの補修・メンテナンスで新品同様に蘇ります。特に子どもがいる家庭では、絵の具やクレヨンのはみ出し汚れも気になるので、オイルメンテナンスは毎年の楽しみの一つです。 この方法を繰り返すことで、テーブルが長持ちして愛着も深まります。初めての方も、専用商品と少しの手間で簡単にできるのでぜひチャレンジしてみてください。
