Traveling across 12 states in the U.S. has offered me a unique perspective on the country’s cultural and natural diversity. Each state offers something special — California’s stunning coastline and vibrant cities, Texas’ rich history and warm hospitality, Washington’s lush landscapes, Maryland’s charming towns, North Carolina’s scenic beauty, and Nevada’s iconic desert adventures. From my experience, planning trips around regional highlights can make your travels more memorable. For example, when visiting California, consider exploring beyond Los Angeles and San Francisco to discover hidden gems like the Redwood Forest or Napa Valley wine country. In Texas, try to experience both urban vibes in Austin and the cowboy culture in smaller towns like Fredericksburg. Washington state impressed me with its outdoor activities, including hiking and kayaking, while Maryland provided a fascinating mix of history and seafood delights, especially around the Chesapeake Bay. North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains are perfect for scenic drives and hikes, and Nevada isn’t just about Las Vegas—the state’s vast deserts offer serene night skies and unique geological features. Visiting 12 states is also a reminder of how vast and varied the United States is. I visited states like Washington (WA), Maryland (MD), and Nevada (NV), which are among my favorites, but the lesser-known states I passed through added to the richness of the journey. If you’re looking to explore the U.S. incrementally, setting goals like visiting 12, 24, or more states can keep your travels exciting and rewarding. Overall, traveling through these states has been a great way to learn about American culture, nature, and people.
