RIP To My Nails ☹️

They broke so I’ll have to cut them down and start my natural nail journey from square one.

I have to stop picking the gel off my nails #naturalnails #nailgrowthjourney

... Read moreHey everyone! If you saw my last post, you know my nails were in a bit of a disaster zone. After months of enjoying fun manicures, indulging in glitter gel manicures, and then, admittedly, peeling it off (never again!), my nails decided to stage a rebellion. They broke, and it felt like a total 'RIP' moment. But every end is a new beginning, right? So, I'm officially embarking on my natural nail growth journey, starting from scratch with shorter, possibly damaged, and uneven nails. I’m determined to get them back to being healthy and grown out, just like they used to be! For those of you asking about 'manicure natural nails' and what shades to 'suggest', I've got some ideas! While my nails are recovering, I'm focusing purely on nourishing treatments. But once they're strong, I absolutely love a good natural-looking manicure. Think sheer nudes, soft milky pinks, or even just a clear, glossy top coat to let my natural nail profile shine through. For a subtle pop of color, muted earth tones or delicate pastels work beautifully without overwhelming the natural aesthetic. It's all about enhancing, not hiding, the natural beauty of your nails. Understanding your 'type of nail' is super important. Are yours naturally brittle? Oily? Do they peel easily? Mine tend to be a bit on the weaker side, especially after improper gel removal. This journey isn't just about length; it's about building a strong and resilient 'nail profile'. I'm focusing intensely on cuticle care, gentle filing (always in one direction!), and strictly avoiding harsh chemicals or anything that could further stress them. The ultimate goal is to have nails strong enough to resist daily wear and tear, not just grow long. You can honestly 'rate it out of 10' for your nail health based on factors like flexibility, surface smoothness, lack of ridges, and overall color. And for those who might be curious about general nail care, even beyond fingernails – maintaining healthy nails, whether on your hands or feet, is absolutely crucial. While my immediate focus is on my hands, the principles apply broadly. Proper trimming and filing are essential to prevent issues like ingrown nails or excessive length that can lead to breakage. You definitely don't want 'uncut toenails' or neglected nails, as that can lead to discomfort, hygiene issues, and even infections. Regular, gentle trimming and keeping them clean are fundamental practices for overall nail health. This also means avoiding extremes; while I adore the look of long, elegant nails, I've learned that pushing them too far can lead to inevitable breakage, bringing you right back to square one, just like my current situation. It's about finding that healthy balance where your nails are strong, functional, and look their absolute best. I'll be sharing my favorite strengthening treatments, cuticle oils, and gentle polishes as I go. If you're also on a natural nail journey or just want to improve your nail health, follow along and let's get those nails thriving! What's your go-to product or tip for growing strong, healthy nails? What nail profile are you aiming for?
