... Read moreIt's a common misconception that you only need SPF on sunny beach days. But as someone who's learned the hard way, consistent sun protection is truly the cornerstone of healthy skin. That's why finding an 'optimal sunscreen' that you actually enjoy wearing every single day is so important. For me, The Ordinary UV Filters SPF 45 Serum has been a delightful discovery. When I first heard about The Ordinary launching an SPF, I was super curious. Their reputation for effective, no-frills skincare at an accessible price point always piques my interest. This particular product, the UV Filters SPF 45 Serum, truly delivers on its promises. The texture is what impressed me most – it's a very light, almost watery serum, which makes it incredibly easy to spread. Unlike many traditional sunscreens that can feel heavy or leave a greasy residue, this one sinks in beautifully. The biggest win for me, and I know for many of you too, is the no white cast factor. As someone with a medium skin tone, finding an SPF that doesn't make me look ghostly can be a challenge. This serum blends seamlessly, leaving no trace behind, which is a huge relief for daily wear, especially under makeup. It feels like a serum, not a thick cream, which is perfect for layering in my routine. Beyond the aesthetics, let's talk protection. The OCR on the packaging clearly states "Broad Spectrum Sunscreen" with "UVA/UVB Protection PA++++". If you're wondering what that means for an 'optimal sunscreen', let me break it down. 'Broad Spectrum' means it protects against both UVA rays (which cause aging) and UVB rays (which cause sunburn). The 'SPF 45' indicates a high level of UVB protection. 'PA++++' is the highest rating for UVA protection, meaning it offers extremely high protection against those aging rays. Knowing these details gives me confidence that I'm getting comprehensive defense for my skin. The 2 fl. oz. (60mL) size is also quite generous for a serum, offering good value. For anyone looking for an 'optimal sunscreen', I always recommend considering a few things: Texture: Will you actually use it daily? If it's heavy or sticky, probably not. White Cast: Does it blend into your skin tone? This is crucial for consistent use. Protection Level: Look for Broad Spectrum with at least SPF 30, and ideally PA+++ or PA++++. Compatibility: Does it play well with your other skincare and makeup? This Ordinary SPF 45 Serum ticks all those boxes for me. I apply it as the last step in my morning skincare routine, right before makeup, and it acts almost like a primer. It doesn't pill or feel heavy, making it a dream for everyday use. Seriously, don't underestimate the power of daily SPF – it's the best anti-aging step you can take! Protecting your skin, rain or shine, truly pays off in the long run. Give it a try if you're on the hunt for a new favorite!
