Grief: Let go of that emotional weight
I attended a #grief circle, and an amazing organization in #Brooklyn called another world where I originally came to do reiki and acupuncture and they offered for Free as well grief #counseling , and everyone shared, and we had a theme around how hard it is to being isolated during the holidays How are #ancestors who have passed away is with us and also departed, and recognizing how #womxyn & trans people have similar experiences of abuse from men. I made this doodle ✍️ as inspiration.
Healing from grief often feels like carrying an invisible emotional weight that can become especially heavy during the holidays when feelings of isolation intensify. Participating in grief circles and accessing free grief counseling, as offered by community organizations like Another World in Brooklyn, can provide essential support and a safe space to share your feelings openly. Reiki and acupuncture, holistic therapies often available alongside counseling, can complement emotional healing by promoting relaxation and balance in the body and mind. These treatments work to ease physical tension and stress that often accompany grief, enabling deeper emotional processing. Another important aspect of healing involves recognizing and honoring our ancestors and loved ones who have passed. This connection offers a sense of continuity and presence that can be comforting in moments of loss. It’s also valuable to consider how grief intersects with diverse experiences, including those of womxyn and trans individuals who face unique challenges, including abuse and marginalization. Engaging with communities that understand and acknowledge these multifaceted experiences fosters belonging and reduces feelings of isolation. Creative outlets, like doodling or journaling about grief, can serve as powerful tools for emotional expression and inspiration during recovery. Ultimately, letting go of emotional weight doesn’t mean forgetting the past but rather integrating grief into one’s life story with support, compassion, and ongoing self-care.
