Shabbat shalom 2 all!
When I was a #kid , my #mother was the most popular , #host in the #LowerEastSide for Shabbat. I was often insecure, of all the neighbors might judge the size of our apartment, compared to their large condos. But it took me awhile to understand, that beyond luxury, the real value is of comfort. My mom’s Grace made them feel at home with selves, to let their guard down, and to be their real themselves even for one night behind doors. Her way of welcoming the stranger, and making room for anyone who didn’t have a meal, even as a single mom of two, who can whip out a meal for 20 people a night before erev Shabbat. While my brother and I would be busy entertaining guests with our charm. #Shabbat was the most exciting part of the week. The warm connections, the uplifting stories, and the ability to just rest. I’ve been a host with OneTable since 2018, and hosted over 100 meals, networked with over 5,000 New Yorkers; and continue to show up authentically and making everyone included in my own artsy way. You don’t need a big home to welcome folks, just a big heart to make others feel special. שבת שלום Roosevelt Island
