What I Look For
If I’m doing a natural light photo session, I always consider three things.
1. Time of day.
- I always look for a way to soften the light using trees or buildings for their shade. Unless it’s golden hour, we love a good golden hour. 👏🏻
2. Location.
- Not only just the location, but how to best utilize the location. For example, this photo I got further up on a bank and shot down towards the pond, so I could fill in the background with the water.
3. Uniqueness.
- Especially if it’s an iconic area for photos in your area, there’s going to be good shot inspo. However, I try to think outside the box. This photo was taken at a local museum, where everybody uses the museum or the bridge over the pond as a background. They’re always beautiful photos, but I wanted something a little more magical for this sweet couple. 🤞🏻
