Day 2 of My Korean Language Journey

Day 2 of My Korean Language Journey

📝 Anki Flashcards (29 mins)

I started my day with a solid review session using my Anki flashcards. It’s a mix of vocab and phrases I’ve collected from the TEUIDA app and Coreall by Cleo’s flashcards. Today was all about reinforcing what I’ve already learned and making sure those words really stick! I spent 29 minutes drilling vocab to make sure I’m ready to move on to new words tomorrow.

📚 TEUIDA Review Quizzes @

Next, I took a few review quizzes on the TEUIDA app, focusing on lessons from Day 9, 10, and 11. These lessons covered the verb to do, and I worked through the quizzes to reinforce key phrases and concepts. I love how these quizzes help me test my knowledge in a practical way, and they’re a great tool for building confidence when speaking Korean.

🔢 Pure & Sino Numbers

I also revisited pure and sino numbers today. Even though I learned them a while ago, I found that the pure numbers weren’t sticking as well as I’d hoped. So, I took the time to drill them again, especially since I’ll be using them tomorrow when I start learning how to tell time and answer questions like “What’s your phone number?” in Korean.

💻 K-Drama with Lingöpie

I ended my study session with episode 4 of My Demon (K-drama) on Lingöpie! This was my first time using Lingöpie, and I’m officially hooked. It’s a subscription-based platform that combines TV shows with language-learning tools. I can save vocabulary words directly from the show by clicking on the text, and it even explains grammar points in real-time. Plus, it automatically adds the words I save into flashcards for later review. It’s definitely going to be a regular part of my study routine from now on!

The combination of traditional study methods with more immersive experiences is making language learning feel less like a chore and more like an exciting journey. I can already see improvements in my recall and understanding, and that keeps me motivated to push forward.

2024/12/21 Edited to

... Read moreHey language learners! Picking up a new language like Korean can feel overwhelming, but finding a solid study routine and the right resources makes all the difference. Beyond just logging my daily activities, I wanted to share some deeper insights and tips on how I approach these study methods, especially for those common questions like 'how to study Korean lessons' or finding the 'best websites to learn Korean.' Maximizing Anki Flashcards for Korean Vocabulary & Grammar My Anki sessions aren't just about memorizing isolated words. To truly make those 'anki flashcards Korean' effective, I create cards that include example sentences, audio pronunciation, and even images. This helps with context. When I'm reviewing new verbs, for instance, I'll make sure one side has the Korean verb (like the 'to do' verb I focused on with TEUIDA) and the other has its English meaning, plus conjugations in different politeness levels. It’s a game-changer for reinforcing what I learn in apps or K-dramas; Lingöpie even adds words directly, which is super efficient! Spaced repetition is key, ensuring those words really 'stick' over time. Cracking the Code: Korean Numbers and Particles One area many beginners, including myself, find challenging initially is Korean numbers – both pure Korean and Sino-Korean numbers. As mentioned in my Day 2 log, pure numbers especially needed a revisit! My tip is to practice them in practical scenarios. Instead of just reciting, try counting objects around you using pure Korean numbers (하나, 둘, 셋) and then practice stating phone numbers or dates using Sino-Korean (일, 이, 삼). The OCR mentions a guide for counting, and I found creating my own similar quick-reference sheet for common uses was incredibly helpful. Another hurdle often encountered early on is 'Korean particles'. While I didn't deep-dive into them on Day 2, understanding particles like 은/는, 이/가, 을/를 is crucial for constructing coherent sentences. My strategy is to learn them gradually, observing their use in simple sentences within my TEUIDA lessons or K-drama dialogues, rather than trying to memorize a long list upfront. Beyond Repetition: Engaging with TEUIDA for Speaking Confidence For 'teuida korean speaking practice', I push myself to not just complete the quizzes but to genuinely try to mimic the pronunciation and intonation. The app's feedback is invaluable, but also recording myself (even just into my phone's voice recorder) and comparing it to native speakers helps me identify areas for improvement. It’s about building 'muscle memory' for your mouth! The lessons focusing on specific verbs, like 'to do,' are excellent for this because they give you immediate application. Immersive Learning: Making K-Dramas a Productive Study Tool Watching K-dramas with tools like Lingöpie has truly transformed my 'korean language learning'. It's not passive entertainment; it's active study. I actively engage by pausing, replaying lines, and using the built-in dictionary. Beyond just vocabulary, K-dramas expose you to natural conversation speed, cultural nuances, and different speech patterns, which is something traditional textbooks can't fully replicate. It's a fantastic way to supplement structured 'how to study Korean lessons' and see the language in action. My Take on a Sustainable Korean Study Schedule Finally, maintaining a 'korean study schedule' is about consistency, not perfection. My Day 2 was packed, but some days are shorter. The key is showing up. Even a quick 15-minute Anki review or a single TEUIDA lesson is better than nothing. I also allow myself to explore 'resources for learning Korean' beyond my core apps, like looking up the 'mianhaeyo meaning' or other specific phrases that pique my interest from a K-drama. This keeps learning fresh and prevents burnout. Remember, every little bit adds up on your journey to 'learn Korean'!
