i know many people feel entitled to others kindness but consistent kindness should always be celebrated. if it’s it’s expected.
now i’m not saying give it to someone ONLY doing it for the applause! but when they are self-less, considerate & show up? thank them for that bare minimum. you’d be surprised how long simple appreciation goes 🫶🏾
In my personal experience, consistently acknowledging the small, everyday actions of kindness can have a profound impact on any relationship. It’s often easy to overlook these moments simply because they happen regularly and become expected. However, when someone consistently shows up and contributes positively without needing to be asked, it truly deserves recognition. For example, thanking "that dog for barking" or "that fish for swimming"—metaphors for people doing what they’re supposed to do—can bring an unexpected warmth and encouragement. In romantic and platonic relationships alike, those small acts, such as listening attentively, offering support, or simply being present, build a foundation of trust and mutual respect. When these actions go unnoticed, it can even create frustration or disconnection, despite any grand gestures that might occur later. Recognizing the "bare minimum" as meaningful changes the dynamic from taking kindness for granted to fostering gratitude. This simple acknowledgment does not mean you’re praising mediocrity but rather honoring consistent effort and care that often goes unsung. By expressing appreciation for everyday kindnesses, you encourage continued positive behavior and nurture a stronger emotional bond. Ultimately, gratitude for these consistent acts not only benefits the recipient but also enriches your own emotional well-being, reminding you to value the people who quietly invest in your happiness and support.
