While I mentioned it looked better on camera, I've got some extra tips to help you master this look, and really any character makeup, so it shines both virtually and in real life. First off, let's talk essentials. For a character like Jack Sparrow, you'll want good quality water-activated face paints in black, brown, and maybe some darker skin tones for contouring. Don't forget a set of various brushes – fine-tipped ones for details like the facial hair and smudged eyeliner, and broader ones for blending. A makeup sponge is also crucial for laying down base colors and creating a blurred effect. And a good setting spray? Non-negotiable if you want your masterpiece to last through a treasure hunt! When I started adding the contour makeup, it really made a huge difference. For Jack, it's all about creating that rugged, weathered look. Think sharp cheekbones, a defined jawline, and even some shadowing around the temples and nose. I focused on adding cheek contour and then went for more contouring!
