Lock In: Week 2

I told myself I’d find a way to track these workouts to show the world that I am actually locked in. Even if it only lasted until today that’s two weeks of workouts that I wouldn’t have done otherwise. I have several years of needing to do workouts like these to get to my goal. For example, the pool swims documented each day show impressive consistency—swimming between 1,780 to 1,850 yards each session, with workout times averaging around an hour to an hour and a half. These sessions not only focus on distance but also maintain a steady pace (around 3:44 to 4:08 minutes per 100 yards), indicating endurance and efficiency improvements. In addition to swimming, the inclusion of strength training adds variety and builds muscle, which supports overall fitness goals. The workouts range from moderate to hard effort levels, with detailed calorie expenditure highlighting the intensity of each session. Heart rate monitoring further enriches the feedback on how the body responds during workouts. Average heart rates stayed mostly between 118 and 130 BPM during swim sessions, signifying a moderate cardiovascular effort that fosters aerobic conditioning. The structured approach of alternating swim days with other activities like table tennis also plays into cross-training benefits, reducing injury risk and enhancing overall fitness. For anyone looking to 'lock in' their training, keeping a detailed log of workouts, including distance, duration, calories, heart rate, and perceived effort, can provide tangible proof of progress. It also helps identify patterns, optimize workout intensity, and stay motivated when facing long-term goals. By celebrating each workout as a step forward, even the small wins accumulate into significant fitness achievements over time.
