State Fair Eatz!
My famuly had so much fun.
The Minnesota State Fair is an absolute paradise for food lovers, and my family and I recently had the most incredible time exploring all the delicious eats and drinks it has to offer! It's not just about the rides and attractions; for us, a huge part of the fun is diving into the unique culinary experience. Every year, we look forward to discovering new favorites and revisiting those iconic, must-have fair foods. When it comes to the best carnival food, the Minnesota State Fair truly excels. You absolutely cannot go without trying the cheese curds – those golden, squeaky delights are a staple. We always look for the ones made with fresh, local cheese, and they never disappoint. Another classic that always makes our list is a good old corn dog, though we also love seeking out the more gourmet hot dog creations. And for dessert? Mini donuts are non-negotiable! The smell alone is enough to draw you in, and a bag of warm, sugary mini donuts is the perfect sweet ending to any fair meal. But don't stop there; be adventurous! We've tried everything from deep-fried candy bars to pickle rolls, and that's part of the magic of the fair – there’s always something new and wonderfully weird to sample. Beyond the food, the State Fair beer scene has really blossomed, offering a fantastic array of local craft brews. It's a great opportunity to sample beers from Minnesota breweries you might not have tried before, many of whom even create special fair-exclusive flavors. Finding a shaded beer garden to enjoy a cold one after walking around all day is truly a moment of bliss. For those who prefer non-alcoholic options, the fresh-squeezed lemonade stands are a lifesaver, and there are countless other specialty sodas and unique drinks. After all that walking and delicious food, finding something truly petreshing is key! We loved discovering some of the unique local beers and artisanal lemonades that were just perfect for cooling down and re-hydrating. To make the most of your family's visit, I highly recommend grabbing a food map as soon as you enter. This helps you plan your route and ensures you don't miss any of your must-try items. My family loves to share dishes, so we can try a wider variety without getting too full too quickly. Staying hydrated is also super important, especially if it's a hot day – keep an eye out for those refreshing drink stands. Going earlier in the day or later in the evening can help you avoid the biggest crowds, making the experience more enjoyable. And don't forget to bring plenty of napkins and hand sanitizer – things can get deliciously messy! Trust me, a day at the Minnesota State Fair, filled with incredible food and drinks, is truly a memorable family experience.
