The life of a Christian is a life of total selflessness. Everything we do, should be done out of love and never out of selfish ambition. No, that is the height of all selfishness. It is God's will for us that we will be able to give - financially and in kind - with our whole hearts and never wonder about what the other person, or people, can do for us. God expects us to look out for one another, with genuine concern and compassion for one another. This is how we express the love He so freely gave us.

Dear God, I pray that as I live my life as a Christian, as Your child, may I never have selfishness as a priority in my life. Help me to be selfless in all my ways, O Lord, so I may be an example of You to Your children. You set the standard first, O God, and I ask that You help me to walk in this standard. I thank you, Father, for this great faithfulness. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

Read moreReflecting on the call to live a selfless life as described in Philippians 2:5-6, I've found that embracing this mindset transforms not only personal relationships but also spiritual walk. The verse encourages us to adopt the same humility and selflessness that Christ exemplified—being in the form of God yet not clinging to status or privilege. In everyday life, selflessness means putting others' needs above our own desires, whether through financial support, acts of kindness, or simply offering a listening ear. I’ve noticed when I approach relationships and challenges with this mindset, it opens doors for deeper connection and spiritual growth. One practical way I've embraced this is by volunteering within my community, giving both time and resources without expecting anything in return. This act of giving, aligned with God’s will, cultivates a heart of compassion and reminds me that my purpose extends beyond myself. Furthermore, prayer has been essential in maintaining this attitude. Asking God daily to help me shed selfish ambitions and to instill genuine concern for others keeps my focus aligned with His standards. It’s not always easy, but leaning on faith and the example of Christ serves as a powerful guide. Overall, living selflessly is more than a duty; it’s a joyful journey that reflects Christ’s love through our actions. It challenges us to look beyond ourselves and embody the true meaning of Christian love in every interaction.
