"Sunflower" (Helianthus annuus) comes from the Greek root Helios, meaning "sun," and Anthos, meaning "flower," when taken together, thus meaning "flower of the sun."

Many people are familiar with ancient legends that mention the nymph "Clete," who fell in love with the "god Apollo," the sun god, but could not possess that love, so she watched Apollo in the sky every day, until the body gradually morphed into a flower that always turned after the sun, and that was the origin of the "sunflower" that symbolized love, stability and eternal loyalty.

But another meaning we overlook, "sunflower," is like one who does not succumb to the darkness of life, and chooses to face the "light of opportunity," at any given moment. Sunflower is the representative of one who is determined, patient, and has a heart full of self-belief, and no matter how much life goes through storms or shadows, sunflowers will still look up to light every morning, just as our hearts should always do.

No matter how frustrated and desperate the reader is now, let her be convinced that she is a sunflower, and as long as the sun's light returns on the morning of a new day, she will always have a chance.
