So apparently, this tweet went a little bit viral on Twitter, and basically I called out the hypocrisy between women and who they choose to support and uplift, and who they choose to condemn.
You can’t call yourself a girl’s girl, but pick and choose what girls you want to be a part of that….Which is why I feel like the phrase is so contradictory and fake. And the reasoning behind it that women have stated is extremely stupid.
Modern day female rap culture propels off of the gimmick phrase of taking someone’s man. In reality, if your man could be TAKEN…you have bigger problems than someone like Kya. It’s obvious she’s not being serious and has stated herself that she doesn’t want a taken man, but she knows it’s going to get her engagement. Face it, controversy sells.
Women were always jealous of other women who get attention, especially from men. It’s been a thing for ALL 32 years of my life and longer. She can be unproblematic, to herself, and doing her own thing and CONFIDENTLY… and women will STILL find a way to nitpick her because of the insecurities they feel about themselves. Engagement often fuels controversy; thus, many women unintentionally contribute to the same culture they wish to escape. Acknowledging this toxicity is a step towards fostering a more inclusive environment where women can thrive.
