✨ 24 Weeks Pregnant- Glucose Tolerance Test

Went for my OGTT test and failed by a bit, i did not cheat as advised by people around me haha.

Apparently you can actually skip sugar and carbs for 1-2 weeks before your test to help to keep the sugar low.

So i had to do blood sugar monitoring twice every week since I have GDM.

During my pregnancy i ate alot of healthy food, avocado milkshake, yong tau foo but i admit that i ate alot of carbs i crave for CKT, Hokkien Mee and rice.

I lovveeee carbs something that i do not eat on a regular basis before I got pregnant.

Also i had really really bad swelling on my legs and my blood pressure was kind of high when i visited the clinic so I have to continue to monitor myself at home but it was okay about 120-110 everyday.

But i was really tired during this period, I had insomnia and was commuting to work daily for 2 weeks straight (im working AU hours so i was awake 5/6am and reach home 5-6pm) and did client nails appointment after work. Travelled to Hongkong and Bangkok too and fell sick in between with flu and cough.

Still very excited to meet my baby and i will play lullabies every night when I sleep. Mostly disney songs! 🥹

... Read moreFor those preparing for the 24-week glucose tolerance test (OGTT), it’s helpful to know that controlling your carb intake before the test might improve your results. Some suggest reducing sugar and carbohydrates for 1–2 weeks prior, which might help lower blood sugar levels during the test. However, always consult your healthcare provider before making changes. Managing gestational diabetes (GDM) means regular blood sugar monitoring is essential. I personally had to check my blood sugar twice a week, which helped me track how foods affected my levels. Incorporating healthy foods like avocado and fresh vegetable dishes worked well, although cravings for carb-heavy meals like noodles and rice were tough to resist. Pregnancy can bring challenges beyond blood sugar, like swelling and increased blood pressure. Keeping a close eye on these at home, as I did, offered reassurance and ensured timely medical advice when needed. Fatigue and insomnia are common in pregnancy—my daily routine of early work hours, nail appointments, and travel added to the tiredness. Despite this, I found comfort in playing lullabies, mostly Disney songs, before bedtime, which helped me relax. Remember to stay hydrated, follow your doctor’s advice on glucose tests, and don’t hesitate to reach out for support if you’re managing GDM or other pregnancy concerns. Each experience is unique, but sharing these insights might help others feel less alone on this journey.

1️⃣ Why KKH? I chose to go KKH for all my pregnancy checkups simply because it is the nearest hospital from my house. It takes only about 20-30min (depending on bus waiting time) from my doorstep to KKH, so it is very convenient. And of course, with KKH being a well-known women's and children&

I finally saw a gynae this process took less than a month. Was gaining weight throughout the years and I recently became overweight — PCOS girlies are more prone to weight gain. (Though I can’t lie I’ve got an addiction to bubble tea so that adds up) Got diagnosed with PCOS and due to high test

I dated my husband for 9 years and we’ve been married for 2. For as long as I can remember, my menstrual cycles were irregular and painful. In my early 20s, I gained weight rapidly and brushed it off as university stress, poor lifestyle habits, and lack of exercise — the “normal” uni life excuses.
