My second attempt doing duck nails. As much as I love duck nails, I struggled using this extension gel. I have tried poly gel many times and couldn’t get it right.😩 I feel like I’m heavy-handed and pulling all the product down thinning it out making the nail sheer. but I’m back. I purchased from another brand. I’m waiting on my package so hopefully with another product I’m testing out my application will be better. I did however have fun with these. I don’t like the junk nail 🙈 ….I struggle with making my junk nails pop with my sets😩 nonetheless I’m gonna post it. Happy Mother’s Day 💐#beetlesgelpolish #ducknails #polygel #nailart #beginnernailtech
As someone passionate about nail art and experimenting with various nail extension products, I can totally relate to the struggle of getting poly gel application just right, especially when aiming for trendy duck nails. The key challenge I've found is controlling the amount of product — it’s easy to apply too much or pull too hard during shaping, which causes the gel to thin out and look sheer instead of full and smooth. From multiple attempts, I learned that being gentle and precise helps maintain the thickness and avoid those thin spots. Changing brands was a game changer for me. Different poly gels have varying consistencies and curing times, so trying a few helps find the one that works best with your technique. Waiting eagerly for new products can feel like a nail technician ritual on its own! I also found that practicing on a nail form or practice tips before working on clients helps build confidence and muscle memory, reducing mistakes. Another area I struggled with was enhancing the "junk nails" — those smaller or less prominent nails in a set. Giving extra attention by adding a bit more product or a creative design can help them pop and make the whole set look more cohesive. Don't hesitate to experiment with color layering or subtle nail art to elevate those nails. For fellow beginner nail techs, my advice is patience and persistence. Nail artistry is as much about practice as it is about creativity. Celebrate progress, even if it means sharing imperfect sets. Each attempt teaches something valuable and brings you closer to mastering the art. Happy Mother’s Day to all who love nails as much as I do — keep creating and refining your skills!
