The PRESSURE to FIT in 💪🏼😣
🫣 So I just got done with my workout 👏🏼 lol but I had a moment where I thought I wasn’t going to get through it. I got to a part where it became real challenging for me and I felt deep down in my spirit that I shouldn’t continue with it. Often times we see workouts, meal plans, and things of that nature online and we say “ maybe I should try this workout and/or meal plan because I want to look just like that” but we fail to stop and consider if the work out/meal plan is actually the best for us.
🫠 In the midst of my work out, I felt The Lord telling me that I shouldn’t continue with that particular part of the work out because not only was it super challenging for my body, but it was doing something to me mentally, it was making me feel inadequate and as if I would never get to where I hope to be and that’s just not OK. Essentially it was killing my hope and that’s the last thing that God wants for us. I decided to quit doing that exercise and chose to finish doing the ones that I felt was better suited for me.
🙅🏽♀️🥸 Idk about you but sometimes when I’m admiring other girls/women and how fit they look, I don’t notice how subconsciously I’m idolizing them and hoping to achieve that same look. I know the slim thick look with the banging thighs and booty is popular but I think we need to consider if that’s truly what will make us happy to have. Some of my family members even asked me why wasn’t I blessed with all the hips & booty that my aunts/cousins have and I was 100% honest and said “I’m glad I didn’t get it” 😂 I told them that I’m happy with my petite yet slightly curvy frame and it made me feel good to be generally happy with my body, especially with so many people fighting to look like the next person. When I had that tough moment with my workout today, it brought me back to that conversation I had with my family member and that’s when it dawned on me to stop falling into the trap of wanting to look like something that I don’t want/might not even be happy with.
🥰 As of today, I’m choosing to focus on being the healthiest version of me and although I do plan to lose weight, get fit and tone my body…it will include exercises to EMPHASIZE MY petite proportion NOT OVERLY CONFORM it to resemble another body & I encourage you all to do the same. Yes we want a challenge but we also want to achieve the goal so just keep that in mind!
Listen to your bodies and seek God’s advice for how to best move forward. He knows what will truly make you happy and what will make you the best version of yourself.
Hope this helped someone! 🧚🏼♀️🎀✨

In today's fitness culture, many are bombarded with images of idealized bodies, creating an unrealistic pressure to conform. It’s important to remember that everyone’s body is unique, and fitness should be about personal health rather than comparison. This can lead to mental and emotional challenges, including feelings of inadequacy and discouragement. Instead of idolizing others, consider what fitness means for you. Establish goals that cater to your body type and lifestyle, and embrace exercises that highlight your strengths. Finding joy in your journey is essential to maintaining motivation and achieving sustainable results. Seek guidance, whether through spiritual support or community, to keep you grounded and focused on your own path. Remember, fitness is not a one-size-fits-all journey; it’s about discovering what works best for you and maintaining a healthy, positive mindset throughout.
