It's a famous work that has been made into a movie, but it seemed quite heavy, so I avoided it until now.

The confession that the homeroom teacher talks about in HR is quite shocking and has a high degree of perfection!
From there, people from different positions talk about the same event.
Even in the same scene, we notice that what people see and receive is completely different.
And I think the theme that emerges throughout is "mother."
The existence of "mother" is strongly drawn in the background of the distortion of the characters,

湊かなえの『告白』は、重く陰惨なテーマを扱いながらも、読み手に強烈な印象を残す傑作イヤミスとして知られています。物語は、愛娘を亡くした女性教師が終業式のホームルームで犯人である少年を告発するという衝撃的な告白から始まります。この告白をきっかけに、同じ事件を様々な立場の人物が語る構成が、緻密な伏線とともにストーリーの重層性を高めています。 私自身もこの作品を読んで感じたのは、登場人物の心理の描写の巧みさです。それぞれのモノローグから、同じ出来事が全く異なる視点で見えてくることに気づかされ、自分自身の日常でも人々の感じ方が異なることを再認識しました。特に「母親」というテーマは作品全体に深く根ざしており、登場人物たちの複雑な心情や行動を理解する鍵となっています。女性が背負う責任の重さにも共感し、物語の中で母性の光と闇を強く感じました。 朗読作品としても人気が高く、橋本愛さんの朗読で『告白』を聴くと、さらに登場人物たちの感情が鮮明に伝わってくるため、読書後の余韻が深まります。映画化もされていますが、文字で読むことで細かな心理描写や伏線をじっくり味わえるため、原作を読むことをおすすめします。 また、この物語は気分が落ち込んでいる時には読むのが辛くなるほどの重さがありますが、その分登場人物の内面に深く入り込むことができ、心の奥底を見つめ直す機会にもなります。私も初めて読んだとき、読み終わった後しばらく感情が揺さぶられましたが、その分自分自身の感情理解にも繋がりました。 結論として、『告白』は重いテーマながらも人間の複雑な感情と社会的背景を巧みに描き出した作品で、読むタイミングは選ぶものの、一度は体験してほしい名作です。是非この機会に手に取り、湊かなえの緻密なストーリーテリングと深いテーマ性を味わってみてください。
