Spending a week in El Salvador without internet was truly transformative. In today’s fast-paced digital world, taking a deliberate break to disconnect can seem challenging but highly rewarding. During my stay, I had the chance to engage fully with family members, sharing stories, laughter, and experiencing local culture firsthand. This time away from screens allowed me to appreciate the beauty of simple everyday moments — a shared meal, a heartfelt conversation, or just sitting together in silence. The local environment, full of vibrant colors and sounds, from markets to traditional eateries, added richness to the experience. For example, trying authentic Salvadoran dishes like pupusas and soaking in the warmth of family-led gatherings made this trip unforgettable. Even small activities like exploring neighborhood menus and local tapas spots, reminiscent of the words seen on menus like "PAKIPA" and "TAPAS," brought a sense of connection to place and people. This experience taught me the importance of prioritizing what truly matters: human connection and presence. I realized that sometimes, the best way to reconnect with yourself and those you love is to step away from digital distractions. If you have the opportunity, I strongly encourage a similar digital detox during your travels or life – it refreshes the mind and rejuvenates relationships in ways nothing else can.
