About 2 hours by Shinkansen from Taipei, I traveled alone to Kaohsiung, a port city in southern Taiwan! I heard that it has been attracting attention recently as a city of art, so I was interested in this spot ✨

There are a lot of huge wall art and installations around the station and the port area. Works by local artists color the city, and you can find a photo spot just by walking ~
🍢 Night Market
Liuhe Night Market and Ruifeng Night Market are very lively! While eating Taiwanese gourmet, I enjoyed a little exchange with local people.

Stylish general stores and cafes are gathered, and it is fun to meet unique items that can only be purchased here.
🚇 Beautiful Island Station (No photo... 🙇🏻♂️)
Beautiful Island Station has been chosen as one of the most beautiful subway stations in the world. The huge stained glass "Kounokyucho" on the ceiling was overwhelming in real life than it looked in the picture.
🐉 Tower
A Chinese-style tower on Lianchi Lake. It seems that evil turns into good luck when you enter from the mouth of the dragon and exit from the mouth of the tiger! You can see the scenery from the top of the tower leisurely.
When traveling alone, you can move and eat at your own pace, but the night market is crowded and easy to get lost, so be careful...!
If you have 2 nights and 3 days, you can go around the main spots, so it is perfect for a weekend trip alone 😊

高雄は台湾南部の港町として歴史ある街ですが、近年はアートの発展が目覚ましく、街全体が美術館のように多彩なウォールアートやインスタレーションに彩られています。歩くだけで多くの写真スポットに出会えるので、散策好きには特におすすめの街です。私も実際に現地で、色とりどりの壁画を探しながらゆっくり歩くことで、街の新しい魅力を発見でき、単なる観光地の枠を超えた地元のクリエイティビティを肌で感じました。 また、駁二芸術特区は青空の下で楽しめる芸術とカルチャーの融合エリア。個性的なカフェや雑貨屋さんが軒を連ねており、ここでしか手に入らない台湾らしいお土産に出会えます。現地のクリエイターたちの作品も多く、アート好きな方には見逃せません。 夜市では六合夜市や瑞豊夜市が非常に賑わっていて、夜遅くまで地元の人や観光客であふれています。屋台の多種多様な台湾グルメを味わいながら、気軽に交流できるのが夜市の醍醐味です。私もひとり旅中に地元の方からおすすめのスナックを教えてもらい、旅の思い出が一層深まりました。ただし人混みが多いので、スマホのオフラインマップを準備しておくと安心です。 さらに、美麗島駅は世界的にも評価の高い地下鉄駅で、巨大なステンドグラス「光之穹頂」は実物を見ると圧倒される美しさ。これは写真や映像では伝わりきらない感動を味わえます。旅の途中にぜひ足を運んでみてください。 最後に、台湾らしい中国式建築が印象的な龍虎塔は、縁起を担ぐ場所としても知られ、口から入った龍と虎の塔を巡ることで旅の無事や幸運を祈れます。塔の上からは蓮池潭の穏やかな景色が広がり、静かな時間を楽しめるのもひとり旅の魅力です。 私は2泊3日で主要スポットを無理なく回れましたが、もっとゆったり過ごすなら滞在日数を増やすのもいいでしょう。ひとり旅ならではの自由なペースで高雄の新旧織り交ぜた魅力を満喫できるので、週末旅行を計画中の方に心からおすすめします。
