Spoiled Pup
Oh my gosh, you guys, I swear my puppy thinks he's the king of the castle! Just yesterday, I walked into the living room to find him with his head in a bag of potato chips. Yes, you read that right – *potato chips*! I had to scold him, of course, because those aren't good for him. And guess what? He actually got angry at me! He gave me the most dramatic side-eye, pouted, and then actually turned his back and ignored me for a good hour. Can you believe the sass? It was hilarious, but also a classic 'spoiled puppy' moment. It got me thinking, what does it really mean to have a 'spoiled puppy'? For me, it's not always a bad thing. It often means they're incredibly loved and comfortable in their home. But sometimes, those adorable antics can turn into less-than-ideal behaviors if we don't set some boundaries. Like my little chip thief, who clearly thought he was entitled to my snacks! So, how do you know if you have a spoiled pup on your hands? Here are a few signs I've noticed, both in my own dog and others: 1. Selective Hearing: They hear the treat bag crinkle from across the house, but suddenly go deaf when you call them for a bath. Sound familiar? 2. Picky Eaters: They turn their nose up at their perfectly good kibble but will beg relentlessly for a bite of your dinner. My pup definitely has a taste for human food, especially if it involves anything crunchy like those *chips*! 3. Furniture Hogs: The couch, your bed, even your favorite armchair – it's all their territory. You're just a guest in their domain. 4. Demand Barking/Whining: They've learned that a certain bark or whine will get them attention, playtime, or a treat, and they're not afraid to use it! 5. Separation Anxiety (even for a minute): They can't bear for you to leave their sight, even if it's just to go to the bathroom. My dog will often follow me from room to room, just to make sure he's not missing out on anything. Dealing with a spoiled puppy doesn't mean you love them any less; it just means finding a balance. I'm trying to teach my furball that while he's the most loved creature on earth, there are still rules. For instance, we're working on 'leave it' commands, and making sure he eats his own food before getting any special treats. It's a journey, and honestly, their quirks are part of what makes them so special. Do your puppies have any sassy, spoiled moments? I'd love to hear your stories and tips on managing these adorable little divas!
