Attending the Underbrush Reading Retreat was truly a unique and rejuvenating experience for me as a book lover. Over the course of the retreat, I focused on finishing three different books, which felt incredibly satisfying. Most notably, I completed The Compound, a gripping read that I’d highly recommend, especially if you enjoy suspenseful novels. I actually bought it used, which adds a nice touch of sustainability to my reading habits. Aside from reading, the retreat fostered a warm and social atmosphere. There was an engaging bookmark making activity that let us tap into some creative fun while bonding with fellow readers. The highlight of the evenings was gathering around the fire pit to roast s’mores and share stories. It was such a relaxing way to unwind after a day full of books and discussions. One interesting aspect was the blend of indoor and outdoor activities, which balanced well with the warm weather. At times, it got hot outside, so spending a bit of time indoors reading was a pleasant break. The retreat’s location at Ozarker Lodge provided a peaceful setting that enhanced my focus on reading and connecting with others. Overall, this reading retreat was much more than just catching up on books; it was about sharing a love for literature, discovering new reads like Love as an Algorithm, and creating memorable social experiences with like-minded people. For anyone looking to recharge both mentally and socially through reading, I highly suggest considering such reading retreats. They can inspire fresh motivation to keep exploring books long after the event ends.
