Fern Terrariums and Mushroom Logs 🌿🍄‍🟫

I find these miniature ecosystems endlessly fascinating, and they offer so much intricate detail to explore with your art markers or preferred medium. When I started sketching these, I realized how much beauty lies in capturing the tiny details. For a fern terrarium, think about the unique shape of the glass jars. How does light reflect off the curved surface? Adding a cork stopper can give it a really charming, sealed-off look. Inside, focus on the delicate green ferns – each frond has its own personality! Don't forget the lush mosses, tiny stones, and even a hint of condensation on the glass to truly bring that miniature ecosystem to life. It's all about observing the subtle variations in plant life and how they interact within their enclosed world. Then there are mushroom logs – a whole different kind of natural wonder! I recently drew a moss-covered log absolutely bursting with vibrant orange fungi, each with its own textured caps. It's incredible how much character a decaying log can have, especially when it becomes a nursery for such beautiful mushrooms. When you're drawing these, pay attention to the way the moss clings to the wood, the cracks and crevices in the log itself, and the varying sizes and clusters of the fungi.
