Obedience Over Convenience

Hey everyone! I wanted to share some thoughts on a topic that often challenges me, and I bet it resonates with many of you too: choosing obedience over convenience. It sounds simple, right? Just do what's right, even if it's not the easiest path. But in our day-to-day lives, with all the pressures and demands, convenience can be incredibly tempting. I've been on a journey to truly understand what it means to walk in obedience, and it's transformative. There have been countless times when I felt God nudging me to do something – maybe forgive someone who hurt me, offer help when I was tired, or speak truth even when it felt uncomfortable. My initial reaction often leaned towards what was convenient: avoid the conflict, save my energy, or stay quiet. But every time I've chosen the easier route, I've ended up feeling a little empty, a little disconnected. That's when the power of choosing Obedience Over Convenience really hit me. It's not about being a robot; it's about building a deeper trust in something bigger than myself. When I ask for help to trust Your plans and follow where You lead, even when those plans seem completely counter-intuitive or ask me to step out of my comfort zone, that's where true growth happens. It takes courage, absolutely. It takes a willingness to say, “Okay, God, I'm going to give You the courage to choose obedience over convenience,” even when my flesh wants to resist. For me, this often comes down to prayer. I remember one specific time, I was faced with a tough decision at work. The convenient path would have saved me a lot of stress, but it felt like a compromise of my values. I spent time praying, truly asking, “LET'S PRAY TOGETHER FATHER... HELP ME TO TRUST YOUR PLANS.” And as I prayed, I felt a clarity, a sense of peace, guiding me towards the more challenging, but ultimately more aligned, decision. It wasn't easy, and it certainly wasn't convenient, but the outcome was so much more fulfilling than any quick fix could have offered. This journey of dedication and spiritual positioning isn't always smooth. There are moments when it feels incredibly hard, when doubt creeps in, and I wonder if I'm truly hearing correctly or if I have the strength to follow through. But it’s in those moments that I remind myself of the bigger picture. I recall verses that speak of God's faithfulness and His perfect wisdom. It's about knowing that Your ways are perfect. It's about remembering that His guidance isn't meant to restrict us, but to lead us to a richer, more abundant life. So, how do we cultivate this? For me, it starts with a daily commitment. It’s about pausing before reacting, asking for guidance, and being willing to step out in faith. It means actively seeking out what God is calling me to do, rather than just hoping it aligns with what's easy. And yes, sometimes it means making that conscious choice, sometimes multiple times a day, to lean into trust rather than convenience. It's a continuous process, a Step of Faith each day. And at the end of it all, I truly believe that choosing Obedience Over Convenience is the most direct path to a life filled with purpose and peace. IN JESUS NAME AMEN.
