It's truly a special feeling to be able to jump online and connect with so many wonderful people these days. As an older Native American man, I’ve certainly seen a lot of changes in the world, and this digital space offers an incredible way to bridge distances and share a bit of ourselves. Sometimes, I just grab my phone, snap a quick selfie – maybe I'm wearing my favorite black t-shirt while relaxing at home, or perhaps I'm out running errands in the car, sporting my Chiefs cap and that 'KC' pendant that holds a lot of personal meaning for me. It’s not about being polished; it’s about being real and authentic. I've always deeply valued connection, and now, more than ever, it feels important to share who we are, honestly and openly. You know, with my long dark hair and a bit of a goatee, I sometimes get questions about my life's journey. It’s a journey that's been rich with heritage, strong community ties, and the invaluable lessons learned over many, many years. Being an older man means carrying stories – stories of family, traditions, and resilience – and there’s a real joy in finding new ways to tell them, even if it’s just through a friendly photo shared with new friends online. Sharing these little glimpses, like a selfie taken against a familiar gray brick wall or from the comfort of my car, feels like opening a small window into my daily life. It’s a way to say, 'Hey, this is me, this is a piece of my world, and I'm genuinely happy to meet you.' It’s incredible how a simple picture can often spark a meaningful conversation or lead to a truly unexpected new friendship. I truly believe that every face tells a story, and it’s profoundly uplifting to see so many different individuals sharing their unique perspectives and lives on platforms like this. For many of us who are a bit older, getting comfortable with taking selfies and sharing our lives online took a little bit of learning and courage. But the reward of connecting with others, sharing a laugh, offering a kind word, or even just finding common ground with someone across the globe, is absolutely worth it. It’s about building a new kind of community, one where age or background doesn't matter as much as genuine human connection and mutual respect. I’m not a 'young buck' anymore, as I shared in my initial post, but that just means I have more life experience to draw from, and more appreciation for these simple moments of connection.
