Play fighting reality check 💀

So there we were, just play fighting on the bed with by bf like we always do, and for some reason I decided to yell “STOP!” really suddenly. The way he froze and looked at me….So funny and so cute. Now I’m lying there thinking, “Oh no… if this was real, I’d actually be doomed.” And he’s staring at me like he just got caught committing a crime. So now we’re BOTH terrified for no reason, lmfao.

Do y’all ever have those silly little moments? And finally turn into something deeper?

... Read moreOkay, so my recent play fighting moment with my boyfriend got me thinking, and reading your comments, it seems like so many of us experience these hilarious yet surprisingly profound moments! It's more than just roughhousing; there's a whole layer of meaning behind why we, as couples, engage in play fighting. From what I've observed and read, play fighting actually serves a few really important functions in a relationship. Firstly, it's an amazing stress reliever. Sometimes you just need to let off steam, and a good-natured wrestle or tickle fight can be the perfect outlet. It’s a way to channel playful aggression safely, and it often ends in laughter and cuddles, strengthening your bond. It's also a fantastic way to maintain a sense of fun and spontaneity, keeping the romance from getting too serious or routine. But then there's that 'reality check' moment, right? Like when you're genuinely couldn't get out if a real scary man attacked you, and in that split second, you realize how much you trust your partner. That's exactly what happened to me! My boyfriend’s immediate freeze when I said 'STOP!' wasn't just funny; it was a profound testament to his respect and care. It made me appreciate his gentleness and how safe I feel with him, even when we're pretending to be wild. It’s a subtle reminder of the underlying security and trust you build, where you know they’d never intentionally hurt you, even in jest. This kind of interaction helps define boundaries and reinforces that ultimate safety net in your relationship. It’s a unique way that couples test and reaffirm their connection without words. So, how do we keep play fighting healthy and fun? Communication is key! Always make sure both partners are enthusiastic participants. Using a clear 'safe word' or phrase, like my accidental 'STOP!', can be incredibly helpful so that if things get too intense or someone genuinely feels uncomfortable, it can end instantly. Also, knowing each other's physical limits and avoiding sensitive areas is super important. It’s about building intimacy, not causing actual pain. Keep it light, keep it silly, and remember that the goal is shared joy and connection, not 'winning.' These seemingly silly moments are often the ones that deepen our understanding and appreciation for our partners. What are your unspoken rules for play fighting?

When I was a little girl my dad would grab me and tickle me if I walked passed him and it scared me so as I five year I screamed stop dad I don’t like this it’s scary. He never did it again but I remember feeling guilty
