I stopped living for the weekend, best decision.

I used to live my whole life waiting for the weekend, dragging myself through five days just to feel alive for two. But recently, I decided to change that.

Now I plan something small but meaningful every day: a walk with music, cooking something new, calling a friend, reading a chapter of a good book. Suddenly, life feels fuller. I’m not just surviving Monday to Friday anymore, I’m actually living through them.

What’s one thing you started doing that quietly improved your life? And something you wish you had done sooner?

... Read moreMany of us fall into the trap of living only for weekends, feeling like our weekdays are just a countdown to freedom. But as the phrase "your life shouldn't only happen on Saturdays and Sundays" reminds us, life is what happens every day in between. Incorporating small, meaningful activities into daily routines can greatly enhance mental well-being and overall happiness. For example, starting with little pleasures like a walk while listening to your favorite music can be surprisingly refreshing. It not only relaxes the mind but also boosts creativity. Cooking something new introduces variety and excitement to daily meals, breaking the monotony of planning the weekend in advance. Reaching out and calling a friend brings connection and support, reducing feelings of isolation during busy weekdays. Reading a chapter of a good book is an excellent way to unwind and learn something new, creating a sense of progress all week long. These changes remind us that appreciating each part of the week helps us find fulfillment beyond the typical two-day escape. By doing so, we avoid burnout and increase overall life satisfaction. Embracing life daily empowers us to live more intentionally, enjoying both the small moments and the bigger milestones. If you’ve been living for the weekend, consider what simple, joyful activities you can integrate into your weekdays. Taking this approach can make a profound difference, turning your entire week into a celebration of living—not just surviving. This mindset shift is a meaningful step towards a balanced, happier life that reflects real well-being beyond the calendar.

100%. Unfortunately work weeks and school do make this a struggle for most households. I will say we are quite lucky. I stay home and my husband has a unique schedule. While his schedule does change, he gets days off often. We get to do fun things together all the time.
