I’ve had dreads twice now, and I just put in a new set this week.
The first time I tried them, I picked a dark brown shade because everyone said it would blend well. It did look fine, but it didn’t feel like “me,” so I took them out after maybe two weeks.
This time, I ordered a soft honey-blonde mix with curls and a few dread strands. When I opened the package, I was nervous because they felt stiff and scratchy, but after conditioning them twice they’re already much softer.
Installing them alone took me almost three hours, but honestly? I’m proud. I used to pay salons and still walk out unhappy, so DIY just feels safer (and cheaper 😂).
So now I’m here with my new dreads.

I’m very confused about this post. One this picture is not a picture of dreads it’s a picture of braids. Two you said you put in a new set this week dreads don’t come in sets… Dreads are typically permanent.
