Starting out, I often wished I had known certain tips that would have saved me time and frustration. One crucial piece of advice is to always ensure your natural nails are completely clean and dry before starting; any oils or moisture can affect the acrylic's adhesion. Investing in quality brushes and monomer liquid is equally important—cheap tools often undermine your work. Patience during the shaping process pays off; rushing results in uneven layers and potential lifting. Another tip is to work in thinner layers and allow each layer to dry properly before adding the next. This helps in achieving a smooth, natural finish and reduces the chance of bubbling or cracking. Don’t underestimate the importance of proper filing technique. Using a reasonable grit file and filing in one direction can prevent nail damage and create a flawless shape. Finally, maintain your acrylic nails with regular fills and moisturizing cuticle oils to keep them looking fresh and healthy longer. Enjoy the learning curve and remember that each session builds your skill. Acrylic application is both an art and a science—you get better with practice, and your nails become a canvas for your creativity and determination.
