”So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.“
1 Corinthians 10:31 NIV
I was talking to a close friend today and she remind that it doesn’t matter what we do as long as we are doing it for the glory of god! Now that doesn’t mean committing sin or acts of evil. But it more means lifestyle choices that we make to better ourselves or even everyday life such as working or teaching or even going to school. Whatever we are doing in our life we should do it for his glory and to glorify his name. Sometimes I struggle with what is the right thing I should be doing to make the lord happy, but me just living by his word and glorifying his name is really all he wants from us.

... Read moreThat powerful verse, 'So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God' (1 Corinthians 10:31 NIV), truly resonates with me. It’s more than just a beautiful statement; it’s a profound call to integrate our faith into every single aspect of our lives. When I first encountered this verse, I admit, I struggled with its breadth. Whatever you do? Does that really mean *everything*?
I used to think glorifying God meant grand gestures, missionary work, or deep theological studies. But after much reflection and prayer, I've come to understand that living for God's glory is often found in the quiet, everyday moments. It's about our intention and our posture. For me, applying this Bible verse means asking myself: "How can this action, big or small, reflect God’s character and honor Him?"
Take, for example, my work. It might just be my job, but if I approach it with diligence, integrity, and a desire to serve others well, I believe I am doing it for His glory. It’s not about seeking praise for myself, but about being a good steward of the talents and opportunities He’s given me. Even simple tasks, like keeping my home tidy or preparing a meal, can be an act of worship when done with a heart of gratitude and care. They become ways to honor the gifts of family and provision.
This perspective has transformed how I view my hobbies too. If I enjoy painting or hiking, it’s not just for personal pleasure. It’s an opportunity to appreciate the beauty of His creation or to use my creativity in a way that brings joy to others. It’s about recognizing that these abilities are from Him and using them responsibly. The idea of "Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God" truly challenges me to live intentionally.
I’ve learned that living for God’s glory isn't about being perfect, but about having a heart that continually seeks to honor Him. It means striving for excellence not out of pride, but out of reverence. It means treating others with kindness and respect, even when it’s difficult, because they are made in His image. It means being present and grateful in every moment, acknowledging His hand in all things.
One practical way I try to apply this is by starting my day with a moment of prayer, dedicating my day to Him, and asking for guidance on how to glorify Him in my interactions and tasks. Throughout the day, when faced with choices, big or small, I pause and reflect: "Does this align with His will? Will this bring honor to His name?" It's a continuous process of surrender and redirection.
This verse, 1 Corinthians 10:31, has become a cornerstone for me, reminding me that my entire life can be a testament to His goodness. It's about understanding that our purpose isn't just self-fulfillment, but God-fulfillment. And in doing so, we often find our deepest joy and meaning. It's a journey, not a destination, but one I'm committed to walking daily.
