First time seeing SNOW!
I lived in Fort Lauderdale,FL all my life and never seen snow before until today! It was snowing here in Montgomery Al today.
OMG, you guys, I still can't believe it happened! As someone who's literally spent my entire life basking in the sunshine of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the idea of 'snow' was always just something I saw in movies or on postcards. It was completely unreal to me. But guess what? Today, that all changed. I woke up in Montgomery, Alabama, and there it was – SNOW! My heart was pounding! I rushed to the window, rubbing my eyes to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Tiny flakes, then bigger ones, drifting down gracefully, blanketing everything in a pristine white. The world suddenly looked so quiet and magical. It wasn't the huge blizzard you see in New York, but for me, it was a full-blown winter wonderland. Growing up in Florida, my winters involved flip-flops and beach days, not scarves and hot cocoa. So, waking up to a world transformed into a soft, white landscape was genuinely disorienting in the best way possible. I kept thinking, 'Is this real life?!' Every tree branch, every car, every blade of grass had a delicate layer of white, sparkling under the soft morning light. It completely changed the familiar scenery into something out of a fairytale. This was my first time seeing snow, and it was unforgettable. Stepping outside was an experience in itself. The air felt crisp and entirely different from our humid Florida breezes. I reached out my hand and caught a few flakes – they were so delicate, melting instantly on my warm skin. The ground was covered in a soft, cold carpet. I even tried to make a tiny snowball, which mostly just turned into ice in my glove-less hands! Definitely need to invest in some proper winter gear next time, haha. One of the most striking things was the silence. Snow seems to absorb sound, making everything feel hushed and serene. It was such a stark contrast to the usual vibrant sounds of my hometown. I found myself just standing there, breathing in the cold air, and listening to the soft, almost imperceptible sound of flakes landing. The sheer wonder of it all was overwhelming. I felt like a little kid again, experiencing something brand new and utterly beautiful. It made me realize how much of the world there is to see and feel. For years, my friends would talk about snow days, building snowmen, and sledding, and I could only imagine. Now, I have my own 'first time seeing snow' story! I wondered if everyone else in Montgomery was as excited as I was, or if it was just another Tuesday for them! For me, it was definitely a day to remember. It really puts into perspective how different life can be just a few states away. If you're also from a warm climate and dreaming of your first snow, here's what I learned: 1. It's colder than you think, even a light dusting! Dress in layers. 2. It really does make everything look beautiful and peaceful. 3. Be prepared to feel an inexplicable joy! This unexpected day in Alabama has given me a memory I'll cherish forever. I'm already dreaming of my next snow encounter, fully equipped with waterproof boots and proper gloves this time! It just goes to show, you never know what amazing experiences are waiting for you around the corner. What an incredible 'first time seeing snow' adventure!
