Asian Store Haul - Part 2!

I made another trip to the Asian store and this time ended up getting mostly drinks and ice cream because of this extreme heat 🥵

Come along and let’s see what we got!

- Frozen Greek yogurt bars with strawberry swirl

- Yogurt drinks inside a legit baby bottle! I tried the mango and strawberry and they were ok but the bottles are definitely reusable !

- Soy drinks. I picked up the melon flavored one as it’s my childhood favorite drink from growing up in Hong Kong!

Which item would you try?

... Read moreAfter sharing my latest Asian store finds, I often get asked for more tips on navigating these amazing markets and discovering even more unique items! I wanted to share some extra insights to help you make the most of your next Asian grocery adventure, especially during this summer heat. First off, if you're ever searching for an 'Asian grocery store near me,' remember that no two stores are exactly alike. While some might be huge supermarkets with extensive international sections, others are smaller, family-run gems. Look for stores that seem to cater to a diverse range of Asian cuisines – often, you'll find dedicated sections for Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Filipino products. This diversity ensures you'll encounter everything from fresh, exotic produce to specialty sauces and hard-to-find ingredients like quality bonito flakes, which are essential for making dashi. Don't be afraid to ask staff for recommendations; they're usually passionate about their products! Let's dive deeper into the drink aisles, since that was a big part of my haul! The 'soft drinks aisle' in an Asian supermarket is a true beverage wonderland. Beyond the fun baby bottle yogurt drinks and my beloved melon soy drink, you’ll discover an incredible array of refreshing options. Think sparkling fruit drinks in flavors like lychee, peach, and calamansi, which are perfect for cooling down. You’ll also find a vast selection of ready-to-drink teas, from sweetened jasmine green tea to various milk teas – some even come with chewy tapioca pearls! I always keep an eye out for different brands of Vita mango juice drink or the rich Vitasoy melon and coconut flavored soy drinks; comparing them is half the fun. For those who love unique flavors, many stores now stock matcha yogurt drinks, offering a creamy, earthy twist. And if you're curious about specific drinks from places like the Philippines, you might even spot unique bottled waters or juices that are popular in their convenience stores. Beyond beverages, Asian markets are a treasure trove for snacks. While my haul featured frozen Greek yogurt bars, there's so much more to explore. If you're wondering 'what is this?' about some intriguing package, it's probably a delicious snack waiting to be discovered! Definitely look for mochi, those delightful chewy rice cakes that come in sweet and savory varieties. You'll find them in the frozen section or sometimes fresh. There are endless types of chips – from savory prawn crackers to seaweed snacks and spicy rice crackers. Don't overlook the candy aisle either, packed with unique fruit jellies and chocolates. My tip for a successful 'Asian haul'? Go in with an open mind, maybe a list of a few things you definitely want to try (like a new drink or a specific frozen treat), and then allow yourself to wander and explore. You never know what delicious and unique finds await you, especially when you're looking for something new to beat the summer heat!
