... Read moreHey squishy lovers! I've been absolutely obsessed with making paper squishies lately, especially these adorable makeup-themed ones! There's just something so incredibly satisfying about crafting your own stress-relief toys. You know, the kind of makeup you don't wear, but squish instead! It's such a creative outlet and a fantastic way to unwind. If you're wondering how to get started on your own collection of makeup paper squishies, it's actually super simple and doesn't require many materials. All you really need is some paper (printer paper or cardstock works great), scissors, clear packing tape, and some stuffing. For the stuffing, you can use anything from plastic bags, old sponges, or even cotton balls – whatever gives you that perfect squish factor! To create your own, first, you'll want to sketch out your favorite makeup items. Think about iconic shapes: a sleek lipstick tube, a compact eyeshadow palette, a cute foundation bottle, or even a blush compact. Don't worry about being a professional artist; the charm of paper squishies is in their homemade, unique look! Once you've drawn your design (remembering to draw two identical sides for front and back), carefully cut them out. Now comes the fun part: coloring! Use markers, colored pencils, or even paint to bring your makeup visions to life. Make them pop with vibrant colors and add details like brand names (fictional ones, of course!), mirrors, or brushes. After coloring, you’ll need to laminate your designs with clear packing tape. This step is crucial for making your squishy durable and, well, squishy! Cover both sides of each paper cutout completely with tape, overlapping slightly to ensure no paper is exposed. This also gives them that satisfying smooth texture. Next, align your two matching makeup pieces and start taping them together around the edges, leaving a small opening. Before you seal it all up, grab your chosen stuffing material and gently push it into the opening until your squishy is plump and perfectly squeezable. Don’t overstuff it, or it won’t be as squishy, but don't understuff it either, or it'll feel flat. Once it's filled to your liking, tape up the remaining opening securely. And voilà! You’ve got your very own makeup paper squishy! I find these homemade fidgets to be a wonderful source of ASMR and a fantastic way to relieve stress throughout my day. Every time I squish one, I feel a little wave of calm, and it's so much more personal than store-bought fidget toys. Plus, the possibilities for designs are endless – you could make an entire makeup bag full of squishies! It’s a super engaging craft project for anyone looking to add a little handmade joy and stress relief to their life. Give it a try, I promise you won't regret getting back into making more and more squishies!
