Thai authorities have rejected a viral video falsely claiming that Parliament is preparing to declare war on Cambodia, calling it a serious case of disinformation that risks fueling misunderstanding between the two countries.
In a statement issued on August 22, 2025, the Ad Hoc Centre for the Thailand-Cambodia Border Situation said the video, shared by a page named Bong Ah Run and citing Cambodian media, alleged that the Thai Parliament would convene to announce a declaration of war. The center stressed that this claim is “completely false and a case of serious disinformation.”
The statement clarified that no parliamentary session has been held to declare war and no actions have been taken that could lead in that direction. Assertions that Thailand rejects peace or plans to attack Cambodia were described as fabrications that risk creating international tension and serve no benefit to the people of either country.
Reaffirming Thailand’s commitment to peaceful solutions through bilateral mechanisms, the center urged the public not to share unverified or inflammatory content and to rely on official sources for accurate information. “Disinformation foments divisions and threatens the people of both nations,” the statement concluded.
