Day in the life of An Eqrestrain!!

Being an equestrian is so much more than just riding; it's a lifestyle filled with dedication, love, and countless hours spent with these magnificent creatures. Every day brings new joys and challenges, but the bond you build is truly unparalleled. My day often starts bright and early, even before I 'get an hour ride in!' There’s always groundwork to do—checking on my horse, making sure her stall is clean, and preparing her feed. It’s part of the silent communication, ensuring she’s happy and healthy before we even think about saddling up. Grooming is another essential step; it's not just about aesthetics but also checking for any bumps or scrapes and strengthening our connection. Then comes the moment we both look forward to: the ride! For me, getting that hour in the saddle is therapeutic. Whether it's practicing dressage, jumping, or just a leisurely hack, it's about moving together, understanding each other's cues. Safety is paramount, which is why I always make sure my gear, like my trusty TROXEL 2000 helmet, is in perfect condition. It's amazing how much you can learn about yourself and your horse during that hour. Sometimes we're working on a challenging new movement; other times, it's just enjoying the scenery and the rhythm of her hooves. 'Oki all done!!' After a good session, the next crucial step is cooling down and 'untacking my girl! GLOSS.' This isn't a race; it's a methodical process. I carefully remove the saddle and bridle, checking for any pressure points or rubs. I make sure to give her plenty of praise and a good rub down. It’s a quiet moment of gratitude and bonding. I always take my time to brush her down, removing sweat and dirt, and maybe even offer a treat or two. This post-ride care is just as important as the ride itself for her comfort and well-being. 'Then we finish off with a bath!' Especially on warmer days or after a particularly sweaty workout, a refreshing bath is a must. It's not just about keeping her coat shiny; it helps her muscles relax and prevents skin issues. I use a gentle equine shampoo, making sure to rinse thoroughly so no residue is left behind. Watching her enjoy the cool water, sometimes shaking her head playfully, is one of those little moments that make all the hard work worthwhile. After the bath, I ensure she’s properly dried to avoid chills, especially around her legs. Beyond the riding and immediate care, being an equestrian involves so much more. There are vet visits, farrier appointments, endless stable chores, and continuous learning. You're constantly observing your horse, learning their quirks, their moods, and what makes them tick.
